detourNightly May through October – every evening at dusk, up to 3 million Mexican free-tailed bats emerge! Thursday through Sunday watch from the lower viewing area and enjoy the educational presentation by a park interpreter. For current emergence time, please call the Bat Hotline. Bat emergence is unpredictable and is not guaranteed.

Upper viewing area is free. Fee for the lower viewing area is $5 per person regardless of age and is limited to the first 70 people, first come first served.

From the Nimitz Museum, go east on US 290 for about 5 miles to the Cain City Road. Turn right. and drive about two miles. At the Yield sign, turn right and take the next left (Broadway Street). Drive Broadway until it intersects with Grapetown Road. Continue left to go to Alamo Springs Cafe, and the Bat Cave.
