Located off Hwy 290 just minutes east of Fredericksburg, you’ll be greeted at the winery to rows of vibrant, aromatic lavender that play contrast with the Earth’s red, sandy soil. The event is a celebration of all things lavender and features speakers and vendors promoting lavender education as well as herb-related products. “Stomp Me, Crush Me, Make Me Wine!” is at battle cry at the Annual Becker Vineyards Grape Stomp! There will be barrels cut in half with grapes in them for visitors to stomp on! Some people also like to purchase souvenir T-shirts to “stomp” their prints on. The event is complimentary. There will also be music at 1 p.m. the four days of the Grape Stomp.
There is no entry fee.

Dr. Richard and Bunny Becker are hosting “From Terroir to Table” in the Lavender Haus at Becker Vineyards near Stonewall to benefit the Texas Center for Wine and Culinary Arts. The award-winning wines of Becker Vineyards will be paired with the flavorful cuisine of Jason Dady, Executive Chef and Owner of Bin 555 Restaurant and Wine Bar in San Antonio. The evening begins with an optional winery tour led by Dr. Becker at 6:30 pm. A reception follows at 7 pm with the four-course dinner at 7:30 pm. A live and silent auction will be part of the celebration of fine wine and fine cuisine. Attire for the evening is “business”. Tickets are $125 per person. Local musician Scooter Pearce was involved in a near fatal car accident and needs assistance for medical expenses. Friends of Scooter Pearce are having a benefit for her at the Becker Vineyards Tasting Room Verandah on Saturday, August 13 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. The admission fee of $20 (includes live music, hors d’oeuvres, and 3 wine samples) goes toward her medical expenses. Musicians Jon Hogan, Maria Moss, and Sol Patch will perform live. Scooter Pearce will also be present signing her musical CDs. There will also be a silent auction. Celebrate grape harvest with lots of ‘stomp me, crush me, make me wine’ action at Becker Vineyards’ Grape Stomp this Saturday, August 27 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 28 from noon until 6:00 p.m. at the winery at Jenschke Lane off Hwy 290 near Stonewall. Pull off your shoes, climb into the barrel, and celebrate the industry’s original method of grape separation.
