Live Pari-Mutuel Horse Racing – August 10-11

The Summer Season brings four weekends of live horse racing at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds’ Class 3 track on Highway 16 South, about 3 miles from Main Street. Live races feature quarter horse and thoroughbred racing as well as special races, trials and futurities.

Simulcast Racing: In addition to live horse racing, quarter horse, thoroughbred and greyhound races are simulcast in the Biergarten from Texas tracks and out-of-state tracks on each of the live racing days. Post time is 1:00 p.m. each day. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. Races run until about 6:00 p.m.

For year round simulcast races, visit The Race Barn located on South Highway 16 at the entrance to the Fairgrounds. Hours are Thursday through Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Texas Fest – July 20-21

Enjoy pari-mutuel horse racing and watch chili cooks compete in a CASI sanctioned event.  Anyone interested in cooking can contact Kim Hiley at (210) 286-4275.  Texas Fest weekend also coincides with the Night in Old Fredericksburg celebration.  Those who get a wristband with paid admission at either event get into the other event free.   At the Gillespie County Fairgrounds on Hwy 16 South.

Gates open at 11 am.  Post time is 1 pm.  Gates close after the last race – usually around 6:30 pm. $5 for adults; $1 for children 6 to 12; under 6 free.  Box seats are $9.
