Wild Sage Barn was built in the 1800’s by German immigrant settlers. Originally, it was a two-story barn made of hand-hewed limestone. Renovations added a living area, kitchen and bath. Authenticity of early settlers is found on some of the door frames which has penciled accounts of crop yields for 1889 and 1890. Built on a ten acre “out lot”, today it maintains the countryside atmosphere on the current two acres, even though it is located a few blocks from Main Street.
Inside this elegant barn you will enjoy the magnificence of the high beamed ceilings and original shake ceiling over the original part of the house. The master bedroom is a loft overlooking the fireplace in the open living area. It is majestically decorated with a king bed as the focal point of the room and topped with a beautiful comforter and skirt. The cellar serves as the second bedroom with its gun port windows which provided protection from Indians. Early Texas decor is found in the cellar along with a queen bed.
The living area, kitchen and bath have rustic cedar walls and ceiling. A limestone fireplace with a Texas Lone Star is delightful on a cool day. The kitchen is equipped for light cooking. A whirlpool tub in the bathroom overlooks a large oak tree and wildlife from the wooded area, providing privacy and relaxation.
Located only four blocks south of Main Street, guests will feel the convenience of town, but the spaciousness of the country.
