Located just one block from Main Street, this eclectic vintage style suite offers comfort, elegance and some wonderful history. The building has served as a tailor shop, a boarding house, a vineyard and winery, headquarters for a well-drilling firm, a rumpelkammer and now as the perfect location for a flower shop (Sprout) and guest house. The history of this wonderful home goes all the way back to 1846 when Friedrich Wilhelm Schumacher, a tailor, bought this townlot and built the two houses still found on the property. Just walking through the flower shop and the guest house will give you a wonderful feel for how intricate our pioneers built their homes—it is truly a fascinating history lesson.
Enter The Flower Bed through the side door into the kitchen. This bright cheerful kitchen offers a range/oven, large refrigerator and coffeemaker. A table comfortably seats three is great for enjoying a lovely dinner or quiet morning coffee. Upstairs (the stairs are narrow and somewhat steep) is a wonderful historic attic perfectly re-created into a bedroom/living area. The queen bed is beautifully decked in an array of inspiring colors that will make you feel you are in a flower garden. The day bed has a double use as a single bed or sofa and is accented with a comfy chair—both are placed to enjoy the Cable TV/DVD player. Adjacent to the bedroom is the bath with a claw foot tub and hand held shower.
Upstairs in front of the bedroom is an awesome covered porch that will invite guests to enjoy the brisk cool mornings the Hill Country offers. And remember—just one block to shopping, festivals, restaurants and churches.
