This pretty little cottage was named for the perennial vine with pink clusters that covers the entrance arbor. This plant was widely used by early settlers for it’s beauty and durability. It can be seen growing near or on many of Fredericksburg’s historical buildings. Located on Main Street Queen’s Crown was originally a one room Sunday House . It belonged to the descendants of the Metzger and Kraus families. They attended the Catholic Church and used it on weekends.
Queen’s Crown is a two bedroom two bath home which offers antiques with a modern pop. Entering from the street you enter into the parlor (living room). This special room has natural wood walls and floors. The settee and loveseat are of period style but comfortable for watching the cable television. Your hostess has a wonderful whimsical flair of decorating and you will enjoy the many special touches she has added in each room.
Two bedrooms are found in the house and each has it’s own bath. The front bedroom has a black iron queen bed and is topped with a white coverlet and an eclectic array of fluffy pillows. The bathroom for this bedroom is adjacent and has a clawfoot tub and shower. You will be delighted at the size of this spacious room. The second bedroom is found behind the living room and has a cream iron bed. The colorful striped duvet is truly a wondrous art. Behind the bedroom is a kitchen complete with refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. The bath located behind the kitchen is small and has a shower.
The back yard will remind you of days gone by. There is an old tank house with seating and overlooking the tank house is a windmill. The yard is typical of yards from 100 years ago. Next door is Loeffler—Weber Guest House, and across the street is Kelly’s Café.
