Sitting in the living room of this wonderful home, it's fun to imagine a one-room schoolhouse of the last century. That is what this home was!! The living room was the schoolroom and the present kitchen was the "apartment" of the schoolteacher.
A large fireplace is the focal point of the living room-dining room. This spacious "school room" is beautifully furnished with a queen-size sleeper sofa (in front of the fireplace) and love seat in coordinating chintz fabric. Two denim-overstuffed rockers add to a separate seating area. The dining area in this room has a trestle table with bench and chairs, a corner cabinet and, of course, a school desk.
The kitchen is large with a stone alcove for the cooktop. The long window over the counter area gives you a view of the patio, an old farmstead, a field - and in the evening - a personal viewing of the sunset.
The bedroom of today is a log cabin added to the home in the recent past. A king-size pencil post canopy bed dominates the room. It's very inviting with a fluffy comforter of wonderful French country print. The modern-day bath (with tub/shower) is built with stone walls and fits in with the old.
The front porch of the School Haus has a supply of wood for the fireplace. Its completely fenced, one-acre yard, makes for a private setting.
