Contemporary Hill Country describes this unique house, tucked into the hillside with a spectacular view across to Fredericksburg, six miles away.
No wonder Charlie Cain, an investor in the San Antonio-Fredericksburg railroad, gave this location its special name back in 1914. The property – 10 acres of Inspiration Hill – was in fact, the inspiration for the house its extraordinary design and flavor.
Stucco exterior and standing-seam metal roof hold the cool in summer and warmth in winter. Inside, a stunning mix of modern, international antique, color and texture mix comfortably, providing the ultimate hill-country experience. Rock terracing and private outdoor shower lure visitors outside. Inside, full-length glass doors and oversized windows bring in the dazzling views both day and night. Simple and uncluttered, the furnishings create a harmonious effect. Special attention has been given to making every detail a pleasure. Luscious bed linens, colors to luxuriate in – both warm and cool – chosen to bring the Hill Country indoors. The house has three distinctive bedrooms and full baths, a king and two doubles, a single sofa bed in the upstairs loft, and a large fold-out queen in the main living room.
First, a tapestry inspired master suite (king bed) with antique Mexican mesquite doors that open onto the screen porch with fireplace. A leather chaise makes a great place to lounge with a book or after a bath. Adjoining master bath has a river rock shower and Jacuzzi spa. Back door and porch lead to a candle-lit outdoor shower for a moonlight experience – or a cooling relief from a hot summer day. Second, a corner bedroom (double bed) with Indian silks and velvets, and Asian antiques make this a hideaway for relaxation. This room’s bath is dark red with red granite countertop. Third, an upstairs bedroom (double bed) with a romantic canopy bed and flowing white curtain surrounds. This bedroom has windows on opposite sides and you can open them for a cross-breeze and moonlit sleep. Its bath has tile, rosewood granite, and a glass-enclosed oversized shower. Please note that pricing is by the bedroom/bath. Each bedroom used will result in an increased rate.
Three bedrooms have TVs with satellite connections, sports package and HBO included. The house has both Ethernet and high-speed wireless internet connections. You can sit on the screened porch with your computer and talk to the office – or not!
The kitchen is fully equipped for those with cordon bleu aspirations, granite-topped island for watching the chef while having a glass of wine, and the dining room seats up to 10 with an 8-foot table and 10-foot sideboard.
The living room with its extraordinary views of the valley, opens onto a screened porch with a gas-log fireplace, and is a favorite spot to sip a cocktail and watch the sun slip away.
The famous town of Luckenbach, with its dancehall and post office is just 4 miles down the road.
Enjoy your stay. We hope it inspires you as it does its owners and its award-winning designer and builder.
