This is one of the earliest pioneer homes built for shelter from the first Texas winter for a German immigrant. It’s place in history is recorded on the Texas Historical Market on the front of the home. The authenticity of this small home gives you the feel of what life was like in early Fredericksburg. Please remember that our pioneers were not as tall as the present day person, so the doorways (and the shower) are not made for “tall people”.
The log cabin part of the house is the living room—complete with comfy sofa and chairs placed to enjoy the cable television in the armoire. Kerosene lamps are used as décor, but are also useful—for those of you that have a desire to experience the 1800 lifestyle.
The limestone room across the back of the house is the bedroom, and also has a table and chairs to enjoy the wood fireplace. The king iron bed is topped with a quilt and decorative pillows creating a romantic atmosphere. Adjacent to the bedroom is a small room with a coffeebar, which includes a small refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. The bath has a shower and offers a unique “skylight” in the bath giving off a warm glow.
Outside is a small courtyard with table and chairs intended to enjoy our cool Fredericksburg mornings. There is also a hot tub in the shape of a heart and perfect for two people.
