Swan Lake is considered the epitome of classical ballet, according to Bohnert, who calls it “the most classical, stylized, traditional ballet in the world.” The local 20-member corps will be working with professional male lead dancer Allen Abrams, who is based in Los Angeles with the Luminario Ballet and also was a principal with Ballet Austin.

Narnia is a new ballet composed by Mark Hierholzer and choreographed by Lisa Bohnert that premiered last season. Inspired by the works of C.S. Lewis, Narnia is the tale of a magical land where evil threatens, animals speak, and children tangle with treachery and truth. The work features original music, choreography, costumes, lighting and sets.

Hierholzer will perform his score on the piano with the dancers live onstage for all shows.

Mark Hierholzer received his BA in piano music performance from UTSA and his MA in piano performance and literature from Eastman School of Music. Mark currently resides in Fredericksburg and is the music director and organist at Zion Lutheran Church. He directs and composes for the Fredericksburg Chorale, two German community choirs, the League of David, and the Zion Children’s Choir.

Lisa Bohnert studied with Merit Scholarships at the National Academy of Arts, Lyric Opera Ballet of Chicago, and the Evanston School of Ballet. She performed professionally with the San Antonio Ballet and the Cincinnati Ballet Company, touring 19 states. Ms. Bohnert is an accredited member of the Texas Association Teachers of Dance and currently teaches in Fredericksburg.
