Admiral Nimitz Foundation Annual Symposium

The topic of this year’s Symposium is “We Served Too: Women in National Security.” Speakers will examine women’s roles in military service from pre-World War II to current times. Main topics which will be discussed include Women who played key roles in cryptology, the history and contributions of the Women, nursing from WWII to the present and Women in current National Security roles. The night before the event opens, the Fredericksburg Theater Company will show a film entitled: “We Served Too,” a PBS documentary and “Gracie” award-winner about the first female pilots to fly in WWII. The film’s producer, Jill Bond, will be on hand for a discussion after the film’s conclusion. Following the close of the Symposium on Saturday, a dinner will be held in the Nimitz Ballroom with special guest speaker, Major General Angela Salinas, USMC, (Ret), the first Hispanic woman to become a USMC general officer. Tickets for the movie are $10 for adults and $7 for age 17 and under. Tickets for the Symposium are $60 per person. Tickets for the dinner are $50 per person and you must register for the dinner when you register for the symposium.
