Goodbyes

Joyce, Toni and Dee

It’s been a bumpy couple of weeks here.

On February 27, Dolores “Dee” Newman passed away at her daughter’s home in Durant, Oklahoma, after a five year battle with cancer.  Dee was born on November 18, 1947 in Durant.  She came to Fredericksburg in 1992 and started working at Gästehaus Schmidt in 1995 as administrative assistant and bookkeeper.

Antonette “Toni” Keating passed away on March 8 at her home in Fredericksburg after a long battle with cancer.  She was born January 15, 1941 in Fredericksburg.  After living in Austin for many years with her husband, Pat  (who passed away a few years ago), retired to Fredericksburg and operated Antonette Marie’s Wedding Chapel and Social Manor, and Das Kleine Nest Gastehaus.  She joined Gästehaus Schmidt in 1991, working part time in our office.

Long time homeowner Jack Glinkmann passed away on March 5 after a short battle with cancer.  He was a retired geo-physicist and worked in the oil industry for 35 years.  Jack and his wife Mary retired to Fredericksburg and opened Texas Star Guesthouse, Wandering Star Guesthouse and Evening Star Guesthouse.

Those who desire to do so may make memorial contributions in Dee and Toni’s  names to the American Cancer Society, and in Jack’s name to the Hill Country SPCA.
