Historic Pat’s Hall and a number of musicians have joined together for “Dance Fest for West”, an all-day fundraising event benefiting the community of West, Texas on Saturday, August 10, from 1:00 p.m. until midnight.

“Dance Fest for West” aims to help the citizens of West, Texas “get back on their feet” and all event proceeds will be donated to the City of West, Texas. FEMA will not fund recovery of West, Texas. According to the City of West Mayor, Tommy Muska, home demolition fees are estimated to cost approximately $10,000 per home, a fee which will not be covered by home insurance.

“Dance Fest for West” festivities will kick off with music from the Czechaholics from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., Saturday August 10, in Pat’s Hall’s air-conditioned dance hall. The Seven Dutchmen will continue the day of music with another live performance from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the dance hall at Pat’s Hall.

From 8:30 p.m. until midnight “Dance Fest for West” event-goers can enjoy music by the Bill Smallwood Band in the dance hall – or opt for live music under the old oak tree as a special guest plays in the outdoor pavilion.

In addition to beer, wine and beverages available in the dance hall, a number of Hill Country food vendors will be on hand serving up Hill Country fare throughout the day.

A “Dance Fest for West” raffle, including a stay at one of Fredericksburg’s bed and breakfasts, will be held during the event.

Jody Nix and his band are looking forward to playing once again at Pat’s Hall. Jody really, really wants to play in the pavilion (he asked us to book him in July so his chances would be better). He’s heard about playing there from Johnny Bush, Darrell McCall, and the many other bands that have played in the pavilion over the years. But we won’t be brokenhearted if we have to move inside because of some good ol’ rain. So come rain or shine, make plans to dance to Jody and the Texas Cowboys! $15 per person. Doors open at 7 p.m., dance begins at 8 p.m.

Thought it would be fun to see how many classes would come out to visit, dance around the tree, and generally have a lot of fun. We’re bringing back the old local 80s band, Crystal Peak, so you can go back in time. This idea started with the Class of ’82, but all classes are invited to attend. And if you’re not a Fredericksburg ex but just want to dance, come on…..the dance is open to everyone. The dance starts 8 pm.

Rudy from Sum Kinda BBQ will be selling BBQ sandwiches, sausage wraps, and chips and queso. Come hungry!

Tickets also available at the Pat’s Hall office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at the door.

Sorry, no BYOB.

WE’LL BE DANCING IN THE AIR-CONDITIONED HALL. TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR.

The Kick-A-Boot Band came about in the summer of 2007, when the regular band at the VFW Hall in Fredericksburg wanted to take the summer off. So Dora Lee Sewell managed to get a band together and they still play today. The band plays good old country classic dance music from artists such as Ray Price, Ernest Tubb, Kitty Wells, Hank Thompson, Loretta Lynn, and many more. Members of the band are Gordon Dowdy (steel guitar and vocals), Kenneth Terry (fiddle), Andrew Neilsen (bass and vocals) and Mark Luedecke (drums).

Dora Lee began singing as a member of the Crenwelge Sisters in the early 50s. After a hiatus of many years, Dora Lee married Rip Sewell and told him stories about singing. They were at London Hall when Sewell asked the band if his wife could sit in. She was a success and performs in Opry shows in Mason and Llano.

If you like the CLASSIC country music, come on out to Pat’s Hall at 2:30 pm!

Billy Mata and the Texas Tradition Band play traditional country and western swing music at its best. They are the most nominated band by the Academy of Western Artists, and Winner of the 2009 Western Swing CD of the Year, “This is Tommy Duncan.” They have also just released a brand new CD entitled, “By Request.”

The band has been performing traditional music for Texas dancehalls and a brand new generation of western wing dancers. The music is all energy, heart, spirit, and the magic musical talent of Billy’s band, The Texas Tradition, now celebrating more than 30 years together!

The dance is from 8 to midnight, and doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and children 12 and under are free. Tickets will be available at the door. BBQ sandwiches, sausage wraps and chips and queso will be available, as well as a beer and wine cash bar. Sorry, no BYOB. Tickets are available online.
