Good place to stay but guests should know one thing
Review Date: 11/30/2019
This was a nice, cozy place to stay for one night. I couldn’t give it five stars and probably wouldn’t stay for more than one night because of one issue that wasn’t mentioned clearly in the description. The description indicated a tv so as is the norm in all other houses in Fredericksburg I assumed there was cable tv. But, not only was there no cable tv but no regular tv channels either. The WiFi was great and luckily we brought a laptop so we watched Netflix. I wish it would have been clearly stated that there is NO cable. Other than this issue the stay was very nice.
I really appreciate your feedback but am sorry that the home's lack of television programming was not explicitly stated in the description. Know that we have updated the property description to now clearly convey this point.
Thank you again for your comments and for choosing to stay with us.
Charming home away from home

A Bushel & A Peck was a wonderfully cozy home. The full kitchen was useful and the home had all you would need away from home.

I was very pleased with our accommodations and the service we received from Gastehaus Schmidt
SIMPLE LITTLE PLACE . QUIET AND COMFORTABLE. HAND SHOWER IS A LITTLE SHORT AND ODD BUT MANAGEABLE. THE DOG COMES FROM NEXT DOOR TO GREET YOU AND IS SWEET.

A Tex Inn is conveniently located near all the Main St events in Fredericksburg. It’s a charming, cozy, comfortable little cottage that’s perfect for a weekend getaway or a longer stay. We were there for the Christmas festival and loved every minute! A highlight was the huge whirlpool bath after long days of shopping and eating ! Thanks for another great time in Fredericksburg!
Great room with two caveats
Review Date: 07/09/2019
The room was a fun place to stay. The bed was very comfortable and the back door opens to a small porch with two chairs. The room is NOT a B & B (no breakfast). There are two things to keep in mind if you stay there: the entrance to the bathroom is very low - if you are over 6 feet tall, you'll bump your head on the door frame. Also, there is only one chair (and two small stools) to sit on. A couple will be hard pressed to sit anywhere if you want to sit on anything other than the bed.
Quaint, Quirky and Convenient

We loved our stay in this charming little carriage house. It was well-equipped - coffee, creamer, sugar, hair dryer, iron, etc. - and the bed was super-comfy. Two-block walk to Main Street, but more like four to six blocks to the hub of activity on Main Street... that's okay though, more calories burned walking = more calories available for sipping!

Very cute and clean space, near enough to walk to downtown yet very quiet. We enjoyed our stay!

Very nice and cozy. Loved it. In town and very convenient. Thanks so much for a memorable weekend.

The place was great and perfect for our weekend getaway. It had all the necessary items and the fridge was stocked with waters and sodas. Would recommend this place for solo travelers and couples.
This was the best house we have ever stayed in in Fredericksburg. We were on a Moms weekend with 8 ladies, and every room was seriously so comfortable and welcoming. The house was immaculate, walking distance to downtown, and really well laid out for a group our size. Every person slept so amazing in the comfortable beds, and the owners truly thought of everything you might need. We will definitely be back to this house.

The Abendstern home was perfect for our girls trip. As one other reviewer commented, pictures do not do it justice. Super clean, great location, roomy, cozy and beautiful outdoor spaces as well! Highly recommend.

This house had everything we needed and more! The beds were amazingly comfortable as were the towels. The house was spotless and had all the supplies you would need. The garage/game room was enjoyed by all. We can’t wait to come back again and stay in this home. It couldn’t have been better!!

We had a wonderful girls weekend in this beautiful home. It’s in an excellent location and very well stocked. The beds are extremely comfortable. We will be back next year!

This is a great house for large groups or family vacations. My husband and I plus my brother's family and my parents stayed there. There was more than enough room for everyone. The kitchen is a chef's dream. We cooked there almost every night and the kitchen supplies and equipment is fully stocked. The game room was great as well. We were never bored including my brother's two sons.
Great layout and location!

Really enjoyed our stay at this house and all the amenities included. Really felt like home! We could walk to the downtown area very easily from there.

We had a fantastic stay- stylish home, lots of extras in the kitchen that make things much easier, plenty of room in all the rooms and lovely outdoor space. Easy to reach enchanted rock, old tunnels for bat experience, Guadalupe River canoeing and the Guadalupe state park. Just get permits early. Close to wine tasting in addition. Highly recommend.

Pictures do not do the house justice. It is a beautiful space. Amazing location and the game room was a huge hit with my kids. Will definitely be back.

Four guys on motorcycle adventure could not have been more happy. From the the garage full of games (shuffleboard, ping pong, air hockey) to the large bedrooms and bathrooms for all. This place would be perfect for a several couples or large families on a wine tour. Gästehaus Schmidt’s has really dialed in on the tradecraft of hosting an airbb. Spot on in every aspect.
It was a cute and comfortable house. The neighborhood was quiet and the walking was very good. We would definely stay in Abigail ‘s cottage again.
Quaint Five Star Cottage!

We enjoyed ourselves very much, a home away from home! It rained while we were there but everything was so relaxing we enjoyed just taking a nap on the couch. Our 3 little dogs came along and there was a nice place for them to potty and plenty of room to run around. It was clean, the beds were in good shape and the bathroom was well stocked. We would readily recommend it to our friends!
The Cabin was a terrific place to just set back on the porch and relax.

We loved our stay at the barn. Deer roam by at night and morning. Very quit and tons of stars can be seen. Right next to the best burger I have ever eaten at Alamo Springs Cafe. Walking distance also. The Old Tunnel state park is walking distance also. Great place to stay and we will be back in March.

Nice cabin, very remote and a great place to relax.
My wife and I really enjoyed the stay. It was just perfect for a quiet romantic weekend. Given the small size of the cabin the bathroom was surprisingly large. It was easy to get to, but also a bit remote. Everything was clean and well stocked.

We enjoyed our stay in the peaceful country cabin of Alamo Springs area. A great get away into a peaceful country setting! It was nice that there was a great restaurant right across the street, and The Old Tunnel State Park near by. I like that they use rain water collected!
Great Place To Stay
Review Date: 05/29/2021
Our stay was on weekdays and we loved it. It was very private and quiet. We loved the long porch. It was one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed at. Also we walked up the road the State Park to the bat tunnel to watch the bats fly out at dusk.
Turned Out Beautifully!
Review Date: 03/18/2020
Our stay at Alamo Springs Country Cabin did not start out so great because the A/C wasn't working correctly, but the Host Maureen was totally on top of things an acted quickly to get it fixed! She was willing to do anything she could do to make us happy and comfortable. So much so, we added a day to our stay! The cabin is so relaxing, peaceful, and clean. The view is beautiful! Nice trails to walk the property! We would absolutely recommended staying here and will definitely stay here again ourselves!
Review Date: 03/02/2020
We are only giving this a three because the bed was so uncomfortable. It had a dip in the middle and we got 0 sleep the three nights that we stayed there. The cabin was very nice and cozy but you really need to have a comfortable bed for your guest.
Relaxing Cabin Experience
Review Date: 06/18/2019
We enjoyed our weeekend at Country Cabin celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary. The cabin was clean and cute. We loved the porch and watching the sunrise. The breakfast fixings were perfect—fresh eggs and easy to prepare biscuits and sausage. Our only complaint was that the stopper in the awesome tub did not fit well. Having limited Internet and phone provider access was a plus! We were there to spend time away from the distractions of daily of life!
Peaceful hill county anniversary weekend
Review Date: 02/19/2019
Wonderful weekend in the TX Hill County celebrating our anniversary. Great location to get anywhere you want to go easily but still out where it’s peaceful. Very nice cozy cabin with breakfast fixings which was a nice touch as well.
Gastehaus Schmidt has a nice office on Main St. We were checked in by a truly lovely woman who gave us information about live music and seasonal activities. Alder Farmhouse is fresh and new and was extremely clean. The house is exactly as pictured with a nice finish out and well coordinated decor. It is close to the highway, but the cars can not be heard from inside the house. The outside area is peaceful with plenty of seating. Sadly many of the trees in the grove out back have died, but it's still a great spot overlooking the little pond. We saw so much wildlife - deer, armadillo, possum, jack rabbit, antelope, and turkeys! There is no wifi, but very good cellular coverage. My older daughter was anxious to watch a favorite show that was released during our stay and was able to stream it with no issue. The one thing we were missing in the well equipment kitchen was a blender (we like to make smoothies in the mornings). Our fault for not checking in advance, but this item might be a good addition sometime. Thanks for a great stay!

We loved staying here. It was clean, comfortable and very convenient to the location of the venue where we were attending a wedding. The view of the pond is beautiful from the fire pit. I really enjoyed listening and looking to the cardinal in the tree out back.

The house is beautiful and located in a beautiful area. We had a great relaxing time with the family.
I booked this house as a girl weekend getaway for my best friend's 40th birthday. We are both major history buffs and I wanted to make this a special trip for her. This house was beyond what we could hope for and we both absolutely loved exploring all of the little details placed throughout this historic home. The staff was amazing and super friendly and always willing to answer any questions we had. Thank you for helping me make this such a memorable weekend!
Amazing Period Home
Review Date: 10/11/2019
Amazing historical home fully kitted out in the period. Also fantastic touches by the hosts - strawberries, milk, muffins, bread, etc.
The house was very well put together, it was beautiful inside and the outside sitting area in the back was great. We were able to grill one night as well. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. Both living rooms areas were very cute and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit around and enjoy each others company. The home is located close enough to downtown you could listen to live music sitting in the front yard. Would recommend this home!
Everything was perfect from price to ease of check in and out and the house was clean roomy well appointed and great location. My friends were thrilled!

My daughters and granddaughter went to Fredericksburg to celebrate my granddaughter’s birthday. She is a freshman at Trinity University in San Antonio and drove up to meet us. The house was adorable and perfectly fit our needs in every way. We enjoyed every part of the house including the front porch. The house was extremely clean and offered every amenity. The location was excellent in it’s proximity to downtown. We would definitely choose this property again.

Antique Rose was a beautiful home that had plenty of room and was nicely furnished. It has a nice private drive with a gate that closes for good security. We really enjoyed our stay there.
It is a great location and a perfect place to rent all the cabins for the weekend. Conveniently located and nice patio and lawn space. We went with all adult couples but it would be a great place to take the kids as well.
My wife, four friends and I stayed in the Annie, Kristin, and Eli cabins for our wedding ceremony. They were all beautiful! The property is gorgeous and the rooms fit the ambiance perfectly. Everything is carefully manicured, from the local coffee in your room, to the fully functional fireplaces with firewood ready for you to use. They provide meal vouchers ($7/person/day) that are accepted at a handful of restaurants/cafes around Fredericksburg. We all loved our stay there and would recommend it to anyone.
very nice little cottage
Review Date: 12/22/2019
Annie's Cabin is a pleasant little cabin located off-street so it is quiet and peaceful. It is very well maintained with reasonable amenities. The king-sized bed is very comfortable. The bath is a large room with tiny shower and big soaking tub. There is also a credenza containing a small refrigerator, coffee service, glassware and sink. It is a bit of a walk to the main downtown area but I enjoyed the walk (I'm 73).

We absolutely loved our stay at Annie’s Cabin... everything was perfect for our Christmas season get away, and the cabin was the highlight!!!! Can’t wait to come back to Fredericksburg and another stay at Austin Street Retreat!!!!
