Johnny Nicholas’s 17th Annual Big Band Bash at Hill Top Cafe, 10661 N. US Highway 87. Dinner shows and concerts with big name artists. Johnny Nicholas himself is a world-renowned bluesman and former Asleep at the Wheel lead singer and writer. Over $60k in the form of college scholarships, workshops and band instruments for Fredericksburg performing arts students has been raised from past events. The event has been extended to three nights and dinner show tickets are $75 per person per night and include a surprise guest artist each night. All events take place at the Hill Top Cafe.

Staff and students from Providence Hall are bringing a box maze to the Gillespie County Historical Society Building, 312 West San Antonio, for two days this Halloween. There will be a box maze for ages 8 and up and a preschool maze for ages 3 to 7. The maze can be very challenging and requires abilities to crawl and squat in small spaces for 15 minutes or more. Adult supervision is required for ages under 8.

For three full days, the world is invited to sing, toast and dance at one of Fredericksburg’s favorite fests. Just like the Johnson family enjoyed in the 1960′s. This month the LBJ Ranch is showing “A Hard Day’s Night”, the Beatles first movie, and featuring Beatles music by “The Eggmen” from Austin. The program starts at 6 pm when The Eggmen will play the first of two 50 minute sets. At 8:30 pm, the park will show the film. Guests are encouraged to begin arriving at 5 pm and all are invited to dress up in Beatles clothing and 60′s attire for a chance to win prizes for best costumes. The movie will be projected on an outdoor screen and those attending are asked to bring their own choice of seating, food and drinks.
