Each cabin was designed and built-in conjunction with Laughlin Homes and Restoration, a nationally awarded leader in luxury home building. Double Deer Ranch has a wide array of wildlife to enjoy—deer, turkey, foxes and a birders paradise. The cattle is of special note, Double Deer Ranch runs Belted Galloways, a rare heritage breed imported from Scotland. Reminiscent of the charming stone pioneer homes found throughout Fredericksburg. Twig blends nature with lavish lodgings. A calming palette of white and cream is the perfect backdrop to relax and recharge. The unique brand chandelier was fashioned by an artist with a need to bring the outdoors in. Two overstuffed chairs clad in chenille wing the stone fireplace. Better than sleeping on a cloud—the massive hand carved king bed is clothed in vintage washed Italian linens. A window lit nook offers a place to enjoy a cup of coffee while overlooking the pastures. The kitchenette has everything you need, including a fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Whirlpool tub for two is perfect to melt your cares away. The shower for two with two shower heads offers a river rock floor to massage your feet…..The back patio area overlooks a year round creek. For your convenience, a Duralog and lighter for the fireplace is provided for your stay. Please read and use directions provided on the exterior packaging of the log. If you would like more, please use the same product (available at HEB or Walmart). We ask that you use the following commonsense procedures when using the fireplace:
We request that you not add any additional materials (wood, paper, trash, etc.) to the fire as we have found it could produce sparks in the chimney, which leads to potential grassfires.
Never leave the fire unattended. Allow it to burn down, do not throw water on the fire as a means to extinguish it. Do not take ashes or live coals outside. Guests are responsible for any fire or smoke damage that may occur.
The temperature outside must be considerably cooler than inside or the flue will not draw out the smoke and it will SMELL, which will be unpleasant for you and future guests.
The damper is properly adjusted- do not change it.
You man NOT run the air conditioner and use the fireplace at the same time, as it causes the smoke to draw into the air conditioner system.
Burn bans and red flag warnings (high potential for fires) are commonplace in the hill country. They are out of our control and cannot be ignored.
ALL careless use of the fireplace is dangerous. Any smoke or smoke smell or fire damage to any Double Deer Ranch property will be your responsibility. Charges incurred will be no less than $250, plus any additional cleaning or replacement fees.
