Metzger Sunday House
https://www.fbglodging.com/fredericksburg-rentals/properties/metzger-sunday-house/
Farmers by occupation, the Metzger family built this little home in town in 1898 to use on the weekends for shopping and attending church and it has been kept in the family ever since. Located just one block south of Main Street in the Historic District, guests will delight in seeing the Metzger Sunday House along with two other original Sunday Houses all lined up in a row.

Metzger Sunday House | Fredericksburg Vacation Rental

Typical of the old Sunday Houses, a small covered porch with swing and comfy chair greets you upon arrival. The main room serves double duty as a bedroom and sitting area. A queen-size bed is the focal point of the room. This magnificent bed has been handed down in the family and is topped with a colorful comforter and fluffy pillows. The antique velvet sofa and chair is comfortably arranged around the television.
The kitchen is fully equipped for your use and delightfully appointed with rich, bright colors. A table for four is in the center of this spacious kitchen. The bath has a tub and shower.
Located only a block from Main Street, this special home is easy walking to shopping and churches. In addition, photographers for major publications, such as Texas Highways, frequently use this picturesque home for magazine and newspaper articles and there is even a postcard that can be found locally of it. Furthermore, this home participated in the 150th Fredericksburg Anniversary Tour.

I have to admit the location is great and I can see where the house had charm at one time. But, there is a difference between "old historic" and "old run down." Others seem to have liked it, but I see nothink nice or charming about a run down bathroom with a large amount of black mildew/mold around the tub. I can get past seeing daylight through the cracks in the exterior door, but the bathroom is not good. I offered to take my wife to a hotel, but she decided to stay because of the $460 we had already spent booking nights at the Metzger house. We love Gastehaus Schmidt and have loved every place they provided, up till now. We still think they are great. The Metzger house is NOT great.

Wonderful location just a bit West of Marketplatz. Walked to a couple restaurants, coffee house, pioneer museum and some shops. As some have said it could use a little paint and caulking refresher, but nothing major. Lots of supplies provided, even a shower stool if needed. Yes “TV” was small but a larger one would have ruined the aesthetics of the quaint cottage. Bed was sooo comfortable. We were thrilled to come back one night to discover a deer in the yard.
Great 3 days in Fredericksburg.

We loved our stay at the Metzger Sunday House. The location was wonderful because we were walking distance to a number of Main St. hot spots. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch. One evening we watched 2 fox and a deer walk down the street. Two nights in a row we saw lightning bugs - haven't seen those in years. It is a lovely little house that we were very comfortable in and look forward to visiting again.

This precious, historical Sunday House, was the perfect retreat as I attended a painting workshop. It was quiet, comfortable, charming in character, and very convenient to all things of fun and importance. I would definately hope to plan more stays in this quaint get-a-way.
Nice little house for a 2 night stay.

Enjoyed staying in the Metzger House. Great location, walked to all most everything. Price was great as well. They had a brand new mattress delivered the morning we got there. Always nice to sleep on a new mattress. TV is very small. Not a deal breaker but it would be a nice upgrade.

There were three minor things about our stay that I want to bring up. First, there was a dirty pair of socks laying in the Living Room from a past client. Second- batteries in tv remote were dead and we had to go get replacements. Third, the biggest I feel, there were no coffee filters there for the coffee maker. Other then that we enjoyed our stay. Thank you

Our stay in Fredericksburg was terrific. We met with 5 other healthy couples for 4 days of merriment; dining, wine tastings, dancing, and good times. My rating of 2 was for 2 reasons. First, mattress is very bad, worn out. Both of us had stuff sore backs every morning from weak mattress. A new mattress is needed ASAP. Secondly, a tiny, 20” hd tv, is too small to watch from across room on sofa. Spend a little money on new mattress and bigger tv, I'm sure more people will stay in Metzger house.

The Metzger Sunday House is a gem. Absolutely perfect for a couple with clean facilities and easy walking distance to main street. The house has everything you need (bring your own coffee if you don't love Folgers), and nice little touches like family history and super soft bedding. The orientation of the front porch makes it perfect for enjoying no matter the time of day. We appreciated the little kitchen that allowed us to bring ample food/drinks, saving money and allowing us to socially distance from others. Check-in / Check-out was a breeze, and we highly recommend this rental as a perfect location for a couple to relax, unwind, and get away.

We totally enjoyed our stay in Metzger House. Very charming...plenty of room. It's nice to have a full kitchen and the addition of a small Christmas tree was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I’m not usually one to complain, but this property needed a few upgrades in our opinion. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and even bowing from age/use. (Very little sleep in two nights and a very sore back...) It could really use a deep cleaning, too. It’s a darling little place, though, and we always love you guys at GS!

Nice historic Sunday house stay! Second time for us. Small but comfortable. Nice bed. Needs a little updating. Our only real complaint is the television. Too small with too little sound. After a day shopping etc in town it would nice to kick back and watch (and hear) a program on the TV.

There is nothing wrong with Metzger House, it’s just very small, and has obvious foundation problems. It’s in a convenient location to town, at only $100, that is an appropriate price. We come to Fredericksburg often, have stayed in many different B&B’s, we probably would not choose this one again.
